The Downtown Community Planning Council (DCPC) will hold its election for new members on
Monday, August 9, 2021.
Elections are held annually. Traditionally, the seats are for two-year terms; however, we delayed the March Election due to COVID-19. There are 7 seats up for this election cycle that will serve the remaining duration of the 2-year term, which is 19 months.
The DCPC serves as the official planning group for Downtown San Diego. The group is made up of 19 volunteers each elected for a two year term to represent Downtown homeowners and tenants, commercial property owners and businesses and community organizations. The group provides a means for public participation relating to the growth and development of Downtown and serves as a communications link to the Planning Commission and City Council.
DCPC meets monthly to review design proposals, conditional use permits, development and loan agreements and other downtown development policies and programs such as affordable housing, parking, transportation needs, street lighting, homelessness and social issues. Council Members are expected to attend regular meetings and subcommittee meetings to maintain membership on the council.
Interested and eligible individuals may register their candidacy via completing the Candidate Registration Form and provide qualifying documentation via email at elections@dcpcsd.com. The deadline to file for candidacy is July 16, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. and candidates are encouraged to attend the Candidates’ Forum on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at the monthly DCPC meeting. The forum and meeting will take place on Zoom at 5:30 p.m.
Voters will be eligible to register to vote via completing the Voter Registration Form and providing qualifying documentation via email at elections@dcpcsd.com or In-Person on Election day.
Based on the voter’s preference identified in the Voter Registration Form, qualifying voters will have the opportunity to vote through Text Message, Email or In-Person. On Election Day, Monday 8/9:
